The Chicago hotel is actually where I met my sweetheart, and this summer we celebrated our second anniversary at their hotel. Even though we were redeeming reward points for the stay, they were incredibly nice and saved the best available room of the type we had reserved for us. They were also kind enough to accomodate my request for an early check in so that I could drop off my luggage before meeting him at the top of the Hancock. (Yes, we are that sappy!)
The rooms at the Affinia are always spotless and sleekly appointed in a modern but comfortable way. You can count on high quality toiletries, reasonably affordable snacks in the honor bar, even a pillow menu. Do ask for a room at the front of the building for a view overlooking Superior Ave. We've visited the adorable cocktail lounge upstairs on prior visits, but didn't have time this week. We've never eaten at the C-House restaurant but we have had room service and highly recommend the smoked salmon eggs benedict. The hotel has a regular late checkout of noon, giving you plenty of time to laze about, and they can sometimes offer complimentary late checkout on top of that.
The location is excellent for travelers wanting to see the Mag Mile or having business on the North side. Its a reasonable walk from the Red Line and a cab to the airport is always waiting and available outside on Superior St. That's really nice - as a native Chicagoan, I absolutely HATE catching a cab on Michigan Ave!
The only fly in the ointment this trip was a slight noise problem in the middle of the night coming from outside the hotel. We were too tired and lazy to request a room change so late, so we just tried to ignore it and fall asleep. I followed up with the front desk about this later - their engineering team had checked the hotel thoroughly for the source of the noise and could not find it. | Super service and a very friendly staff. The room was very nice and we had all the of the city at our doorstep. They accommidated all of our needs, even after check out. They held our bags until we were ready to leave the city. All this with a smile. |

| Great hotel. We absolutely loved the hotel. Our room was a split level on the 9th floor with a small office by the door and a bedroom and living room sunken a few steps with wall to wall windows. The room was huge and comfortable.
The Affinia also has a great roof deck and bar on the 29th floor with a great view of the area.
Plus, the hotel was only a block from the Michigan Avenue. Lots of great shopping and restaurants. |

| I was at a conference at the Navy Pier, and needed a hotel that would be a refuge. My room was incredibly clean, super comfy bed, and a shower to die for! I retreated there every evening to get re-charged for the next day. Food not very good, but there were good restaurants close by. I will definitely stay there again. |

| I found the Affinia Hotel to be charming, friendly, clean and at a great location. The staff was friendly, knowledgable and personable. The location could not have been better...easy walks to many spots. The rooftop lounge was awesome and the C-House food was wonderful. |

| When we arrived we asked if we could upgrade to a larger room with bigger beds if there was a room available- we were lucky there was one available for a small up charge. When we saw the room we were doing the "happy dance" it was two king beds in a large room and a spacious bathroom too. The beds were so comfortable and you could choose the type of pillow you wanted we all slept great. The hotel was clean with a contemporary feel, the doormen were very friendly and helpful with suggestions for coffee- it was better that Starbucks- and where to eat. We will be going back to the same hotel for our annual trip next year. This hotel was a definite great choice!! |

| Helpful staff and great location. My room was big compared to other hotels I have stayed at in Chicago. The lounge on the roof was comfortable and the food was perfect. Our server was cute and friendly. |

| This is a nice hotel, the resturant was good but who needs a restaurant in Chicago. The elevators are slow, painfully so, and there is a fair amout of construction going on in the area.
Room was good but found articals of clothing that had been left in the room, in drawer and behind couch. Strange but oh well. |

| The hotel desk was very helpful, as was the doormen! The room was not as I had expected with a less than functional drain, dirty sheets and a horriable coffee maker!! There are sirens running 23 hours a day as well which made for a rough night of sleep! Guess this was just not our week!!
The best thing I can say is that the staff was VERY helpful and the Pizza place next door (Gino's) helped make the visit a lot better! |

| A block from Watertower and just off Magnificent Mile shops, not far from the water.
Modern hotel with nice decor, good-sized rooms.
Staff was very friendly. Two down sides:
* No concierge desk and small cramped lobby. Front desk personnel provided information but they weren't that well-versed -- and if they were busy you had to line up behind guests checking in and out just to ask directions or about event tickets.
* Poor elevator service to upper floors -- with especially long waits when the hotel rented out its rooftop bar fro convention groups. (Which also meant we couldn't visit it on the two nights we wanted to explore this promoted amenity. |
