Recent Best Western Grant Review: "This hotel was wonderful! The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful, even though I arrived way before check-in time. I believe the hotel was recently remodeled, as the furnishings all looked brand new. I was in Chicago for a "green" business convention, so I was happy to see the hotel had installed low-flow water fixtures and offered a linen re-use program (although they did not offer a towel re-use program). The wi-fi was free, however I had some problems using it & had to resort to using the LAN cable that was provided in the room. Not a big deal, except that the cable was located next to the bed rather than at the desk. The bed was VERY comfortable! The only complaints I have would be the lack of good restaurants in the immediate area, and the music college next door. Their rehearsals are sometimes in the evenings, and they like to leave their windows open when the weather is nice so you can hear every note (which isn't that bad except when you're trying to nap). I did not try the restaurant attached to the hotel but the menu in the room was rather eclectic, and other reviews I read were questionable. Right next door is a WONDERFUL diner called Yolk that serves breakfast & lunch. While not convenient to EVERY aspect of Chicago, it's close enough to the museums to walk. All in all I truly enjoyed my stay, and highly recommend this hotel to business and leisure travelers."

A 20-mile lakefront path that runs along Lake Michigan’s shoreline is three blocks east of the hotel. Bicycles, in-line skates, and open-air, pedal-powered buggies for groups can all be rented from several beachfront locations during the summer. Also, in warmer weather, Oak Street Beach, approximately 2.5 miles north, is popular for sunbathing and for swimming when lifeguards are on duty. Beach volleyball courts are available for rent or pickup games. Public tennis courts and a public golf course are both six miles northeast of the hotel.

| No big complaints; the location convenient to both bus and train lines. Staff was helpful with directions and advice for both. Leave the car at home or cancel the rental car reservation. Parking rates were ridiculous and between bus and train accessibility a car is not at all needed! |

| Check-in was smooth. Had to wait for a bellman about 10 minutes, no big deal. Our room was very to-the-point, yet adequate. Overall the staff was friendly and helpful, however we did have a few concerns. The noise outside our room was mildly disturbing at times, and we could clearly hear the guest in the next room talking on a cellphone. I requested an extra ashtray and three trips to the lobby, one phone call, and six hours later, a friendly maintenance man managed to ferret me two in five minutes. Another guest down the hall was given keys to a room that was still occupied. Then I had to wait 30 minutes for a bellman upon checkout, which also required multiple calls to the front desk. This hotel seems to be under-staffed, and working to correct this, as they had "help-wanted" posted on the marquis. It is a good location, across from the museum campus and close to millenium park also. Overall, for a good rate I would stay there again, and recommend it to others. |

| The hotel is located right across the street from Grant Park. It's just a short walk to Shedd Aquarium and the planetarium. It was extremely hot when we were there and the hotel had very well air-conditioned rooms. Which was a great escape after walking the heat all day. |

| Great location (two blocks from museum and aquarium, walking distance to Hancock Tower) beds were super comfy. Close to attractions and the El Train. I was however disappointed with most of the staff, with the exception of one person. One staff member was great, talked me thru directions when I got lost on the way there and everything, but the others seemed to forget that most people that stay there don't live in Chicago and don't know where they are going. They seemed as if I was asking too much of them when I needed directions to anywhere. |

| We asked for a waterfront room over the phone and was told one was available and in the 2 minutes while waiting in line for the key the last lakefront room was given to someone else.
They then gave us a room by the elevator which had no safety latch on the door. Complained and got another room with a partial waterfront view. This one, the tub wouldn't drain and curtain was falling down and still smelled like smoke.
Hotel has a great location though. Valet service was great.
If just sleeping overnight for the location hotel is ok. If for more than that (comfort etc) the hotel isn't recommended. If they improve maintenance of the facility we would stay there again. |

| A nice hotel in a very central location and for a good price, however I would not stay there again. It was a small room, a suite no less, and it is not modern. It is an older building, and everything looked worn. The staff was very nice. If you are looing for a place to simply rest your head at night this will do, if you look for more than that in a hotel keep looking. |
