Recent Best Western Grant Review: "This hotel was wonderful! The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful, even though I arrived way before check-in time. I believe the hotel was recently remodeled, as the furnishings all looked brand new. I was in Chicago for a "green" business convention, so I was happy to see the hotel had installed low-flow water fixtures and offered a linen re-use program (although they did not offer a towel re-use program). The wi-fi was free, however I had some problems using it & had to resort to using the LAN cable that was provided in the room. Not a big deal, except that the cable was located next to the bed rather than at the desk. The bed was VERY comfortable! The only complaints I have would be the lack of good restaurants in the immediate area, and the music college next door. Their rehearsals are sometimes in the evenings, and they like to leave their windows open when the weather is nice so you can hear every note (which isn't that bad except when you're trying to nap). I did not try the restaurant attached to the hotel but the menu in the room was rather eclectic, and other reviews I read were questionable. Right next door is a WONDERFUL diner called Yolk that serves breakfast & lunch. While not convenient to EVERY aspect of Chicago, it's close enough to the museums to walk. All in all I truly enjoyed my stay, and highly recommend this hotel to business and leisure travelers."

A short guide to The Loop - Downtown

Locals call downtown Chicago “The Loop.” The famous Marshall Field’s, now a Macy’s, is on State Street. Cultural attractions include the Art Institute of Chicago, the Lyric Opera, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Grant and Millennium parks are along the lakefront. Recreation

In summer, guests at this Best Western can swim and sun on the third floor, where the pool and sundeck overlook Grant Park. A year-round fitness center is open daily with a variety of equipment including a weight machine, elliptical machine, and stair climber.

A 20-mile lakefront path that runs along Lake Michigan's shoreline is three blocks east of the hotel. Bicycles, in-line skates, and open-air, pedal-powered buggies for groups can all be rented from several beachfront locations during the summer. Also, in warmer weather, Oak Street Beach, approximately 2.5 miles north, is popular for sunbathing and for swimming when lifeguards are on duty. Beach volleyball courts are available for rent or pickup games. Public tennis courts and a public golf course are both six miles northeast of the hotel.
