Recent Chicago Ascend Collection Review: "We wanted to be not too far off Michigan Ave. within easy walking distance to Rush/Division streets. This was the perfect location. Check-in was a breeze. We were dying for a Chicago hot dog, the clerk recommened his favorite stand right down the street. The room was very comfortable,although a little small, with a king bed, and a chair and ottoman. We were passing through on our way to Michigan, and were only staying two nights, so the room's size wasn't a big deal. If we had been staying longer, it might have been a problem. I agree with the other reviews regarding the bathroom---very, very, small, but with nice amenities. On one side of the lobby is a coffee shop, that has the best gelato. On the other side is a bar where we stopped and had a drink one night. The el is close by, took it over to Wrigley Field. Fantastic shopping is only a half a block away. Try Garrett's popcorn on Michigan. The only negative I can say is that it was a little noisy in the early mornings. The maids were vacuuming between 7:30 and 8:30, and even earlier than that, we heard dumpsters being emptied. You will have to either pay for valet parking ($41 a day with no in/out privileges) or just down the street and around the corner in the self-parking lot ($5 cheaper, with in/out privileges). We chose the valet, because who wants to drive in all that traffic anyway, with such good public transportation. When we checked out, again, it took less than five minutes, and when we stepped outside, the car was just pulling up. All-in-all, we thought the room was a great deal, the location was perfect, and we would recommend the hotel to anyone. We will definitely come back and stay again. (One other thing, for anyone driving in, West Ohio street changes to East Ohio. We didn't realize it until after we turned around, and then noticed a street sign)."

This was the second time we stayed at the Inn of Chicago. First time was a smallish room yet very clean and functional. This time we received a spacious room with king bed and nice view looking west. Couldn't beat the price, especially since we reserved the room online only two days before our stay. Many reviewers note that their room and/or bath was small, but our experience indicates that this is not necessarily going to be so, and your room could be big. Guess it's just the luck of the draw. I suggest you take your chances!

My husband and children were visiting Chicago for the 1st time and relied heavily upon the reviews for this hotel. The location was great! Right in the middle of all the sights! The quality of the room and furnishings get an A+. The beds were plush and the most comfortable we had ever had at a hotel. The price was great and service was awesome too! About two hours after check out I realized I had left some items in the sidetable drawer, one phone call and they had it collected and waiting for me at the front desk. I will definately be using this hotel in the future and would recommend it to everyone visiting the windy city. As an afterthought, I should mention that the bathrooms were quite tight but to be expected in a old city highrise. It didn't bother us at all but thought I should mention it for others.

I have stayed in a lot of hotels and this one is one of the best located hotels there is. Right in the middle of all of the shopping so you can easily walk to any store and Navy pier too. Is it not even a full block off of Michigan Ave and the rate is pretty low for such a great location. The room is not big but it is clean and comfortable. Small bathroom but very big shower with great water pressure! The lobby has a funny smell like baby powder. It was there both times I have stayed here. Only problem was the front desk was pretty rude when we called and asked for an hour later check out.

Keeping in mind that this is an old building in Downtown Chicago, it's a good place to stay. Pros: Nice rooftop terrace. Small, but decent rooms. Location, location, location. Cons: Not what someone used to brand new Americinns just off the interstate would be used to. No fridge or microwave in the room. Very expensive parking at a nearby garage...it might pay to investigate other options or park at a Park & Ride out of town and take the train in. Overall I was happy.

This was a fantastic option for us. Very walkable to a lot of fabulous Chicago locations. SO close to the Magnificent Mile! The work out room was clean and NOT smelly. The room was pretty large with a clean bathroom, comfy bed and nice linens. Best part/surprise was the rooftop terrace with a lovely view of the city and a great place to hang out at the end of the day with outdoor seating. Lots of other hotel guests were up there enjoying the setting sun, a little bite to eat (that we brought up there) and a drink or a smoke. I would definitely stay there again.

We were pleased with how convieniently located our hotel was. After check-in we realized that an occupant of the room next to ours was smoking, against regulations. We alerted the desk staff, who dealt with the occupant. When our room continued to smell like smoke, they agreed to change our room. The rooms are small, and modestly furnished. The lobby is chic and comfortable. They seemed to be understaffed for the amount of guests present the weekend we stayed.

This hotel is beautiful. It could not be more convenient in location. The only thing that I was a little disappointed in was the size of some of the rooms. This hotel boasts that "good things come in small packages", the operative word being "small".

The overall appearance of the lobby was very upscale (A+++) but when arriving to my room, I was disappointed. No fitted sheets. Toliet handle fell off 3 times. No room service. House Keeping was extremely noising the halls EVERY MORNING! However, the location is perfect. Very close to downtown Chi-town and great places to eat within walking distance. Overall Thoughts: Overpriced for the lack of quality within the rooms. I am not staying there for the lobby. I am staying there to sleep. That should be most important.

Very nice Hotel....friendly staff, nice rooms. The location can't be beat....Magnificent Mile, Rush St, Navy Pier.....and 5 short blocks to the Red Line to Wrigley! Visit the 22nd floor rooftop terrace! Great view of Chicago
