Recent Crowne Plaza Avenue Downtown Review: "I stayed at this hotel during the NHL Winter Classic. The location was perfect for me because it was right next to the Magnificent Mile (which came in handy when I found out that I needed a New Year's Eve outfit at the last minute), and just a few short blocks away from the NHL headquarters for Chicago. The room was very spacious and the shower was very relaxing. The room was very clean. The bed was very comfortable and filled with down pillows and a down comforter. The maid service was wonderful. She came in and refilled everything, laid out my personal belongings for me (like most top hotels do), and was very helpful when I needed to ask for directions. The train is an 8 minute walk from the hotel, so you can basically take the train from O'Hare to the hotel vicinity. The business center is free (which was a huge plus in my book). The restaurant in the hotel is ok. The waitstaff was very nice and courteous, but the food...it's British...so you can't expect much from it (i.e. if you like spice and food with flavor, British food doesn't cut it)."
