Recent Embassy Downtown Lakefront Review: "My family (hubby and 3 small children, ages 6, 4 and 10 mos) and I stayed at this hotel recently. We loved it and HIGHLY recommend it. Great location, extremely fast elevators, CLEAN, good indoor pool and hot tub (can get crowded, but gets the job done), HUGE breakfast buffet included (hot everything - bacon, sausage, eggs, pancakes, biscuits and gravy,  oatmeal, omelets plus fruit, yogurt, toast, cereal, donuts) and fantastic manager's reception with free drinks nightly (beer, wine, mixed drinks and snacks). The neighborhood was easy to get around in and it was within easy walking distance to Michigan Ave., Navy Pier, Garrett's popcorn, American Girl, the riverwalk, museums, etc. Also, movie theater and bowling alley attached plus a Walgreens next door and a Starbucks and a liquor store across the street. Also, the attached restaurant (PJ Clarke's) had good food and reasonable prices. All members of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful (bellhops, valets, buffet helpers, gift shop attendant). We really liked the attention to detail that shows that this hotel caters to lots of guests (lots of fresh towels at the pool, fast elevators, plenty of food at breakfast, checkout at NOON, etc.) Also, the hotel is pretty with lots of windows and an open-air feel. No DVD players in room (so bring a laptop for movies or watch Nickelodeon if your kiddos need some down time) but nice to have microwave, two extra sinks, mini-fridge, space for snacks and table big enough for kids to eat at if necessary. Although it is GREAT for families, we did not hear a peep from other rooms and we would use it for a parents-only weekend too. We will definitely seek out again."

Although Chicago's nighttime views are remarkable, the hotel's 13-story atrium lobby is also worthy of attention. The hotel's evening receptions provide a perfect opportunity to take in the lobby's details that include a glass-dome ceiling and the double-sided, black-granite waterfall complemented by boldly hued accent rugs. Of course, those who wish to view Chicago's architecturally magnificent skyline need only board the hotel's elevators to fully appreciate the city's panoramic vista.
