Recent Holiday Mart Plaza Review: "The hotel staff was great! We were in town for a Grad School interview and wanted to tour the city to familiarize ourselves more (i.e. housing, food, shopping). They were great in giving us listings of restaurants in the area and maps!! There is a walkaway that takes you to Merchandise Mart which is filled with shops and food choices. Merchandise Mart  also has a stop on it for L (the brown line). Makes life easy, just hop on and you can switch lines at Clark/Lake easy as pie. The only downsides are one, everything closes early (like 6 or 7 p.m.) and two if you are a smoker, it's rough running from the 15-23rd floor down to the 1st just for a smoke!! The entire building is smoke free!! Oh and the lobby is located on the 15th floor, it's not labeled very well, and we did have to ask for directions. The personnel there are all very helpful and nice. The check in and check out was super easy and done within minutes. They held on to our luggage for us while we did the interview and had no problems claiming our bags. I do want to recommend if you are staying here, go out the back door, walk to the corner where you will see CVS and Starbucks, look to your left. You will see a little diner/deli-Steve's Deli. It was the best food I had to eat in the city and their cupcakes are to die for!! We brought a half dozen home!!"
