Recent Monaco Chicago Kimpton Review: "I planned a weekend vacation to Chicago for me and my girlfriend to go to one day of Lollapalooza and see the city for the rest of the weekend. I bought my tickets for Lollapalooza early but lagged on getting a hotel. Rates were very high for the downtown Chicago loop area and this hotel, Hotel Monaco, was the cheapest one. It went on to be one of the more impressive hotels I've been to. We flew into Chicago O'Hare around 10pm on a Thursday and took the Blue Line into downtown. The hotel was about 4 blocks from the train stop - CHEAP public transportation to and from the airport is always a plus in my book - which put us checking in around 11pm. Checking in was a breeze. There was a tiny mix up with the room arrangement though. We reserved a room with a king bed and river view (a detail I wasn't really that aware of other than the king bed). This room wasn't available and the front desk clerk made this very very clear. He let me know that they would move our bags the following day, so not to unpack. He also comped us breakfast the next morning. So we get to the room that "wasn't really our room" - it just had two queens instead of one king and, frankly, I could still see the river. Unless your the type to fuss over the size difference between a king and queen, which I am not, the mistake was negligible. So we woke up the next morning and had an amazing FREE breakfast at the hotels wonderful restaurant. We then clarified with the front desk that our bags would be moved from our present room to our correct room. We spent all day Friday out of our hotel to return that night sometime after 10pm. We checked with the front desk and everything went smoothly. The man gave us our new room keys and we were on our way. The funny thing was that although our new room had a king bed and river view, the view was nearly identical to that of our previous room and the room was smaller. But we got our king. Haha. We were humored by the entire situation but glad to be settled in the"
