Recent Raffaello Review: "My wife and I used the hotel for a weekend getaway. We wanted to be close to the Magnificent Mile, shopping, the Navy Pier, restaurants, lounges, etc. The hotel was newly renovated and very clean. We stayed in a deluxe suite. The room was incredible. We chose the hotel based on some online recommendations from hotel sites, the photos, and the 4-star rating. The room was definitely well-represented in the photos. Bright, airy, modern, brand new flat screen TV's. The hotel is right in the heart of everything, across the street from the Hancock Building and 1 block from the Mangificent Mile. Took us 10 mins to walk to the Navy Pier for boat tours, 5 min taxi to Rush St and bars/restaurants, etc. Bascially, almost perfect location (the Ritz-Carlton and Westin thought so too, as they are very close to this hotel). The lobby was small, and the gym was barely passable, a few treadmills and some standard hotel machine contraptions. If you actually workout and are into fitness, it's not great, but for a few nights, it can work. Or, depending on the time of year, just jog Lake Shore Drive, which is a few blocks away. The only other issue was breakfast. It was very expensive ($15 pp) and not worth the money, and the breakfast room was basically a cold, conference room with some table and chairs thrown in. Looked like a break room for some insurance company. Room service, ordered the night before and hung on the door, actually proved a better value for breakfast, and much better food. Oh, the concierge was also great in making recommendations and getting us dinner reservations. She didnt seem to have much pull with the hot spots (Tavern on the Rush, etc) but she was very nice and very willing to help. All in all, a bit expensive, but youre paying for location and a clean, modern room. I would definitely stay there again. And any nice hotel in a bog city like Chicago, NYC, Boston, is going to be expensive."

Great location BUT........... our stay was miserable because the air conditioning didn't work in our room. There was no one on duty to fix the AC.

great location for walking to all the downtown site seeing "must sees" in chicago. front desk staff was very helpful in providing directions as was the bell man. maid service for the room was excellent...they even picked up my sons clothes off the floor and folded them!! did not try the restaurant there but it always smelled so good. one down fall was the elevators, they were very small and slow.

The Raffaello Hotel is located in a great part of the city of Chicago. Clean, safe, walking distance to everything. We never once needed our car. The hotel staff was polite, warm and made our stay a great one. The hotel itself was extremely clean. We highly recommend the Raffaello and certainly would stay there again if in Chicago.

The location and size of the room was beyond excellent! 1 block to the lakefront, 1 block to Michigan Ave. But lower your expectations when it comes to service. It seems like the place is being run by young 20 somethings in training for the big time. The concierge was gone half the time i would have asked him a question, the doorman watches as you open the door for yourself, and he runs off to serve others while trying to hail you a cab. ?????? Service is lacking to say the least. They charge you to use the computer in the business center too. The room was good enough, but my room looked worn out. The carpet had worn spots, and was frayed. The tile in the bathroom was worse than a low end condo in the Gold Coast. If you are looking for high end style, this place isn't it. Go to a Kimpton Hotel instead. But it was a great place to crash with friends for the weekend. The self parking was a good deal and offered in and out privileges. The staff however fails to tell you that you need to pay for parking at the hotel before check out, get a validation stamp, and a receipt before the garage will even deal with you - even though it is a public garage perfectly capable of handling your transaction. When you check out in a hurry and go direct to the garage, only to find this out, it sure sets you back time-wise. The staff at the Raffaelo need more training that is for sure!

We are a family of four and all agree that our stay at the Raffaello Hotel was fantastic. We didn't want to leave. It's a quaint size hotel compared to the mega hotels in that area -- and we enjoyed that quality about it. The location was perfect for our trip (John Hancock Tower, Michigan Ave., Zoo, beach, etc.) We would certainly stay there again. Our only complaint was that parking across the street was not available when we checked in so we had to park around the block. But the clean, contemporary rooms and helpful staff made up for that slight inconvenience.

This hotel is in a great location. Walking distance to shopping and the lake. BUT, the service is lacking. I got a call at 9:00 a.m. asking if I had used anything from the mini bar, prior to the room being serviced. And, WARNING... the restaurant that is accessible from the lobby is not part of the hotel. The hotel staff leads you to believe that it is however, I found out the hard way upon being presented with the check and having to run up to my room to get my wallet. Embarrassing to say the least. The restaurant staff was very nice about it, the hotel staff was less than apologetic.
