Recent Silversmith Hotel Review: "I chose this hotel because online it looked like the exact location I was looking for: close to the train, Milennium Park, Navy Pier, Shedd Aquarium, the Art Institute of Chicago, Magnificent Mile, all of the pizza joints I could ever want, everything really. Arriving there in person did not disappoint!
We took the L from Midway airport and it was about a 35 minute ride, which we expected as it's one of the last stops in the loop before it heads back to the airport. We got off the train and as soon as we stepped off the stairs, there was our hotel! The staff at the front desk were happy to keep our bags for us while we explored until checkin time at 3pm. We were within walking distance of everything I wanted to see and do, and even close enough to run over to Grant Park the following morning for a jog, which was awesome.
There was a mini fridge in our room for storing our leftover Giordano's stuffed pizza, which was a plus, although to microwave it we had to go to the lobby area to find one since it wasn't in the room, but it wasn't a big deal. Our room had a pretty lame view since we were on the inner side of the hotel, but at least we never once heard the train. I would guess that the best rooms are probably the ones on the top few floors on the street side, high enough for a good view and to hear less of the train. The room itself wasn't terribly exciting and had somewhat old decor but it was very clean and the bathroom looked like it may have been recently renovated! I was tired enough after our full Chicago day that I dind't particularly notice anything about the bed in the 30 seconds it took me to fall asleep, but as far as I could tell it was clean and the pillows were smooshy and wonderful.
Ada's Famous Deli was attached to the 1st floor, which is where we decided to have breakfast. I would definitely recommend it not only for the convenience of being so close to the elevators but because it was delicious!
I absolutely recommend this hotel and I would st"
