Recent W Chicago Lakeshore Review: "The W Hotel (Lakeshore) was a wonderful place to stay. I was in Chicago in early November for a conference and decided to stay the weekend. The W hotel beds are always a treat to sleep on, and the downstairs common area/bar/lounge was trendy and cool. I was impressed with the decor of the room and the layout with the cute window shutters that separated  the bathroom from the common area. The room was brand new (newly renovated), clean, smelled nicely, and spacious. You also can't beat the location. Certain rooms overlook the Lake Michigan and others have a lovely city view down spacious Chicago avenues. The hotel is literally on the lakefront so you can step outside to go for a run along the river, or go to the Navy Pier with the kids for some fun. Two blocks away is the West Egg, a great place for breakfast, and even the most savvy local diners know to go there for a great meal! Go a few blocks further and you hit the Magnificent Mile - Michigan Avenue. This hotel is clean, hip, and in a great location. I'll stay here again!"

    A short guide to Magnificent Mile - River North

    Magnificent Mile, a part of Michigan Avenue from the Chicago River to Oak Street, appeals to tourists because of its flashy department stores and fancy restaurants. Several of the Windy City’s architectural wonders are here, including the John Hancock Center and the Old Chicago Water Tower. Just north of the Chicago River, River North is home to the city’s shopping, design, and gallery districts.

    Dining at W Chicago Lakeshore

    Wave Restaurant - Six steps down from the lobby, this open-design restaurant serves a full breakfast and Mediterranean-influenced cuisine at lunch and dinner. The dress is business casual, the atmosphere is energetic, and the decor is chic with leather seating in ivory and red. An elevated section along the wall of windows offers booth seating. Outdoor seating May - September.

    Whiskey Sky - This dark, intimate bar takes its name from its bird's-eye view of Chicago. Black-and-silver leather banquettes and small tables line the walls. Drinks only. DJ music on Friday and Saturday. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the city presents a fireworks show over Navy Pier on Wednesday and Saturday nights, and the bar provides an excellent vantage point.
